Ever get annoyed at people who only Facebook/Instagram the beautiful and magical parts of their lives in an effort to make themselves look perfect?

I am not that. Introducing me, giving you a one-sided look at my life…all the weird, dumb, messy, annoying, and crappy parts. Becky Castle Miller on Instagram.

Sometimes I think a purpose in my life is to make you feel better about yours. : )

I love this!  Lately, I have been attracted to blogs of women who are real with themselves and with others.  It was prompted by a comment on Facebook by a friend of mine about how many people feel bad about themselves because most people only show the good parts of their lives.  Since then I have really made an effort to get real with myself and show the real parts of my life with my friends.  Of course, this has its drawbacks.  Yesterday, my uncle went off on me saying that he hates that I share all sorts of things that no one cares about.

I think it’s partly a generational thing. Older family members didn’t grow up sharing pictures of their meals on Instagram or offering a play-by-play of their days on Facebook, but Generation X (to some extent) and Generation Y and Z grew up on social media. So we do actually care about the little things in our friends’ lives. It’s optional for people to read my status updates, blog, etc. So if they don’t care…they don’t have to read!

Your life may be messy sometimes but you look adorable living it. Have you ever seen ME wake up in the morning?! We all burn food and have to move couches. I love sharing the less triumphant parts of our lives, too.
